By the Grace of God The Autobiography of Navy Chaplain Douglas Waite Captain USN CAPT Douglas John Waite 9781530126507 Books

This book is a gem! It is absolutely wonderful and inspirational! It is true testimony from a very inspirational life. It communicates so much about the challenges and joys Captain Waite faced. There is no way that my review could really do it justice. When I have more time I hope to write a more complete review.

Captain Waite shares an incredible amount of detail; the book paints a very complete picture. He shares joy and the happiness, beauty and grace and also tragedy and unhappiness. He shares his thoughts and feelings with an unvarnished honesty.

It is the most honest book that I have ever read. I enjoyed it very much. I could not recommend it more highly!

This book portrays what happens in the spiritual realm when territory is gained. It also reveals the stagnation of many in churches who are satisfied to not move beyond pew warming.
This is a very detailed life story of a young adult who made a decision to listen to God and that led to a life-long journey across the world which positively effected the author, his family, and the lives of many others. Honesty abounds in the terrific book. A superb read!
Great product! Exactly what I was looking for.
Captain Doug Waite is incredible honest and transparent about his life in a way that anyone can relate to. His willingness and discipline to listen when God has spoken to him has taken him on an incredible journey. Great read and written in a way that will give you a desire to capture your own life someday but will challenge you to live a life greater than you currently think possible.
What a remarkable journey as a man allows God to take command of his life. I've been blessed by this story of how God carefully navigated Captain Waite and his family through his will for their lives. There are many great lessons of devotion to God to be gleaned from the lives that God has touched through this family.
The author writes with a passion to share his life and love of Christ with his family and others. He quotes a friend in the book, "When an old man dies, his library should not burn completely."

The author was a rebellious and angry pot smoking hippie. God called him and he followed. He became a United Methodist Minister and a Navy Chaplain. He retired from the military at the rank of Captain.

The author's writing is honest and sincere. His life wasn't perfect and we can all relate to his experiences of highs and lows.

I thank Doug Waite for sharing his life, and I'm privileged to call him a friend.
My wife bought this book for me. I have known Doug for many years and for the first time I have come to an understanding of his life well lived by the Grace of God. This book is like a 'dipstick' into Doug's journey. There is so much more that the pages cannot contain; like his outgoing personality, his sense of humor, his love for his family (and his hunting dog), but more than all this, is his depth of faith. His faith in God, Christ and the Holy Spirit has seen him through so much terror, both within the church as well as within his military service. But, also his faith has seen him through much joy as he relates how the healing hand of God has touched him and his family. I can say that Doug is truly a man of God! I have enjoyed our many years of friendship and look forward to many more.
